Uwe Clausen

Uwe Clausen (born December 28, 1964 in Düsseldorf ) is a German logistics scientist , professor for transport systems and logistics at the Technical University of Dortmund and one of the directors of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics .

Life

From 1983 to 1989 Clausen studied computer science at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) . After graduating, he worked as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics. In 1992 he became head of the transport logistics department. After receiving his doctorate on the topic of network structure formation for line train systems in the main run between mail centers in 1995, he moved to Deutsche Post .

Clausen worked there as a logistics project manager until 1997 and then took on the position of managing director of the subsidiary IPP Paketbeförderung GmbH in Austria. In 1999 Clausen moved to Amazon.de in Bad Hersfeld as Operations Director . From September 2000 he was also promoted to European Operations Director at Amazon.com. He was responsible for the entire logistics in Great Britain, France and Germany.

On February 1, 2001, Clausen became the holder of the newly created Chair for Transport Systems and Logistics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Dortmund, which was transferred to the Institute for Transport Logistics in 2011. From 2002 to 2005 he was dean of the faculty. He is u. a. Member of the advisory board of the Association of German Transport Companies , the scientific advisory board of the Federal Logistics Association and the board of the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes ECTRI.

In 2019 Clausen was elected to the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).
