Uwe Franke (Manager)

Uwe Franke (born January 19, 1949 in Hamburg ) is a former German manager .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1968, Franke began studying chemistry at the Chemical State Institute in Hamburg (from 1969 University of Hamburg ), which he completed in 1975. In 1978 he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD .

Franke began his professional career in the same year at BP in Hamburg. In 1994 he became CEO of BP Portugal. He was appointed to the board of the German BP in 1996. In 1999 he was appointed chairman of the board of Deutsche BP AG. After the merger with Veba Oel AG, the owner of Aral AG , Franke took over the chairmanship of Aral AG in 2002 and, at the same time, the deputy chairman of the board of Deutsche BP AG. From July 1, 2004, he was again Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche BP AG. Franke took on the same function from May 1, 2010 in its successor company, BP Europa SE. He retired on April 30, 2012. Michael Schmidt was his successor .

Franke is married and has three children.
