Uwe Leuchtenberg (born February 16, 1958 in St. Tönis ) is a state politician ( SPD ) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Leuchtenberg was born in St. Tönis (today Tönisvorst) in 1958. In 1974 he moved with his parents to Vorst, where he graduated from high school in the same year . In 1977 he finished his training as an industrial clerk and then worked as a clerk in the textile industry. In 1980 he became an industrial specialist . At the age of 34, Leuchtenberg obtained his Abitur through the second educational path . Since 1994 he has been employed by the Tönisvorst public utility company. Leuchtenberg is married and has two children.

politics

Leuchtenberg has been a member of the SPD since 1986. In Tönisvorst he is on the board of the local SPD association. He is also a member of the Working Group for Workers' Issues (AfA) of the SPD in the Viersen sub-district. He was first elected to the Tönisvorst City Council in 1989. There he was parliamentary group chairman from 1993 to 2004. From 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was a member of the Committee on Economics, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Energy and various affiliated sub-committees. He was also one of the secretaries of the state parliament. Leuchtenberg is a member of the United Service Union .

In the course of the opening of the election campaign for the local elections, Leuchtenberg announced that the traffic turnaround would be brought about by extending the tram line between Krefeld and St. Tönis to the Vorst district. How this project should be financed, he left open.
