Uwe Schmidt (born February 14, 1966 in Bremerhaven ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was elected a member of the Bremen Parliament in 2015 and a member of the Bundestag in 2017 .

Family, education and work

Schmidt learned the trade of a car mechanic and works as a docker.

He is married and has one child. He lived in Bremerhaven- Lehe .

politics

Schmidt joined the SPD in 2010. In 2010 he became the spokesman for the port operating group in the working group for employee issues (AfA) Bremerhaven and chairman of the AfA in the SPD sub-district of Bremerhaven. He is a member of the SPD sub-district executive committee in Bremerhaven.

In 2011 he was elected city councilor in Bremerhaven, where he was active in the committees for labor, social affairs, senior citizens, migrants and people with disabilities, as well as for public safety and sport / leisure time.

In 2017, Schmidt ran as a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency Bremen II - Bremerhaven for the German Bundestag and won the direct mandate with 34.1% of the first votes.
