Uwe Detlef Walter von Schamann (born April 23, 1956 in Berlin ) is a former German professional American football player and two-time Super Bowl participant with the Miami Dolphins as a kicker . Von Schamann was the second German player in the NFL after Horst Mühlmann .

Early life and NFL career

From Schamann made his high school Accounts 1975, having previously raised three years from West Berlin to the US, at Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth , Texas . The University of Oklahoma gave him a football scholarship because of his talent. With the Sooners , the university football team , he won the National Championship and received several college football honors (including best kicker of the Big 8 Conference of all time, kicker of the century at his university).

He was selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft in 1979 , was named Rookie of the Year 1979 and played for the Dolphins until 1984.

Uwe von Schamann returned to the University of Oklahoma a few years after retiring in 1993 and graduated in journalism in 1996 . Despite his sporting record, he describes this as the greatest success of his life. In 1998 he founded his own company, Schamann & Associates, which u. a. Holds courses and public speeches on topics such as self-confidence, motivation and teamwork, but also organizes camps and football lessons.

The pictures of v. Shamans from the 1984 season were used in the movie Ace Ventura .
