Uzina Tractorul Brașov

Uzina Tractorul Brașov (UTB) was a Romanian tractor manufacturer based in Brașov . UTB (IAR) brand tractors have been sold in 52 countries on all continents.

In 1925, the Întreprinderea Aeronautică Română was founded as a Romanian-French joint venture for aircraft production. In 1946 this switched aircraft production to tractor production. The first Romanian tractor IAR 22 was made. Uzina Tractorul Brașov emerged from the Intreprinderea Aeronautică Română in 1948.

Series production of the U 650 tractor with 65 hp started in 1963, after development had been running since 1960.

In 1990 UTB was converted into a public limited company. The main shareholders were AVAS with approx. 80% and SIF Transilvania with approx. 17%. In February 2007 the plant was closed and liquidation initiated.

The Argentine company Grossi manufactured several universal tractor models in Rafaela , Santa Fe in the 1990s . Some of these models were: 2040 CL / DTV / F / V; 2050 CL / DTV / F / V; 2055; 2060 CL / DT / F / V; 2070 CL / DT / F / V and 2075 CL.
