Váci utca ( Waiznergasse ) in downtown Budapest

The Váci utca (formerly Vaci street or Waitzener alley , after the city of Vac or Waitzen ) is Budapest's oldest trade route and is now considered the best known shopping area of the city. It is located in the old town of Pest . The street runs parallel to the Danube in a north-south direction in the immediate vicinity of the river and connects the Great Market Hall with Vörösmarty tér . While the lower part of the market hall with restaurants and souvenir shops is mainly aimed at tourists, the upper half is a lively shopping street with many international fashion chains.
