Václav Kubička

Václav Kubička (born September 28, 1939 in Písek , † January 21, 2005 in Rüsselsheim ) was a Czechoslovak gymnast and national coach of German gymnasts.

Life

Václav Kubička took sixth place in the team classification at the 1964 Olympic Games with the Czechoslovak squad. Four years later, the squad reached fourth place in the team classification at the 1968 Olympic Games . Kubička reached the finals on the parallel bars and finished sixth there.

In 1968 he left his home country Czechoslovakia after the Olympic Games in Mexico City and moved to the Federal Republic of Germany. He was the head coach of the German Olympic teams in Frankfurt in the 1970s and 1980s, a. a. also that of the squad from 1972 in Munich, in Montréal in 1976 and in Seoul in 1988.

Under his direction, Eberhard Gienger developed the Gienger Salto named after him.

Kubička was married to the Czech gymnast Jana Posnerová . He died at the age of 65 after a long and serious illness. His three sons are / were successful trampoline gymnasts.
