Víctor Zalazar (born July 24, 1935 in La Paz , Argentina), fighting name "Cacique" and "Wild Bullet" is a former Argentine middleweight boxer.
amateur
Zalazar won the bronze medal in the middleweight division at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne . He defeated the German representative Dieter Wemhöner in the quarter-finals , but then lost to Gennady Shatkow from the Soviet Union in the semi-finals .
Professional career
Zalazar started his professional career in 1957 with a series of fifteen knockout victories. Only the Cuban Benny Paret , later two-time welterweight world champion, stopped this series in December 1958. Zalazar also lost the rematch a month later. In 1960 he was defeated in Boston against the Nigerian Dick Tiger . After his further career was relatively uneventful, he said goodbye in September 1963 with an early loss to Nino Benvenuti from the ring.
