The V-train AG (proper spelling: V-ZUG AG) is a home appliances maker based in train in Switzerland. In 2013, the company generated sales of CHF 580 million, including the sales of the two companies Gehrig Group AG and Sibir Group AG. Together with these companies, V-Zug AG forms the household appliances division of the Metall-Zug Group .

Company history

The Zug galvanizing plant was founded in 1913. In addition to the execution of contract orders, galvanized sheet metal goods were manufactured for the household, agriculture and the construction industry. In the early 1920s, the galvanizing plant manufactured the first hand-operated drum washing machine that made housework easier. The product range has been continuously expanded. With the Unica washing machine , the classic V-Zug laundry room - consisting of a washing machine, washing stove, sink and centrifuge - was complete.

During the Second World War, the Zug galvanizing plant, like all Swiss companies, was subject to compulsory cultivation . Together with other Zug companies, the company managed a large potato field on the Zugerberg. At the same time, the factory continued to work on it. The development of the first electric washing machine saved time and effort. In 1949, Tempo, the first small washing machine for the household, was launched, followed the following year by the first Unimatic for multi-family houses. At the end of the 1950s and early 1960s, the existing range was completed by the washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers from the Adora range. In 1976 the Zug Metallwarenfabrik, at the time the market leader for cookers and ovens, merged with the Zug galvanizing plant. Production was brought together at the current location. This made the new company a full-range supplier for kitchens and washrooms. From 1981, the Zug AG galvanizing plant appeared on the market under the new company name V-ZUG AG .

In March 2013, the refrigeration equipment division of AFG Arbonia-Forster Holding AG was taken over for a net CHF 13 million. On June 25, 2020, V-Zug will be listed on the stock exchange. The previous parent company Metall Zug will retain a 30% stake.
