Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG was founded with the invention of the power rail by Paul Vahle in 1912. Vahle came up with the idea while he was in charge of the electrical department at the Hoesch iron and steel works in Dortmund . There were repeated downtimes and high additional costs, as the electric cranes used repeatedly caused short circuits when the wires of the round copper line touched.
