history

Within the volleyball section of the Innsbruck Railway Sports Association (ESV), a second section called Pradl / Volleyball was founded in 1962. In the founding year the women became Tyrolean champions, in 1965 the men's division became Tyrolean champions. By the time the men's national league was founded in 1971/72 and the women's regional league in 1973/74, the men were six times Tyrolean champions, the women celebrated eleven Tyrolean championship titles. After numerous second places in the men's and women's teams, the men's section won the Austrian volleyball title as ESV Pradl Innsbruck from 1969 to 1971. In 1975 the section decided to change its name to VC Innsbruck in order to break away from ESV Innsbruck, and in 1980 the name was changed to VC Olympia Innsbruck. The club played in the Austrian national league for women and men until 1999. Due to various sponsor rejections, the club was forced to play in the Tyrolean regional league.
