It is part of the VDI manual Production Technology and Manufacturing Processes and is published by the VDI Production Technology and Manufacturing Processes department.

scope of application

Processes and tools are described and the current technology of grinding in woodworking is illustrated using examples. The focus is on the surface quality of the processed wood and wood-based material surfaces.

The VDI 3413 is aimed at production engineers, wood technicians and machine operators and is intended to support them in work planning and in the practical design of belt grinding processes. The grinding errors shown in the picture and description and instructions on how to avoid them should be helpful.

The German and the corresponding English version contain a technical glossary of the two most important technology languages. The German version of the guideline is binding.
