VEB Housing Combine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Housing Combine (WBK) was an association of housing construction companies in the GDR , operating in the legal form of a state- owned company , which were mostly organized according to the territorial structure of the districts . Including East Berlin , there was a central housing combine, so there were 15 district-managed WBK. These had branches and other construction-oriented combine operations, such as panel factories, within the districts. There were also regional combines that worked in some large cities, such as WBK Greifswald .

After the political change , the companies were transferred to various successor companies, such as the WBK Neubrandenburg in the Mecklenburger Bau-Union AG . The necessary organizational realignment and subsequent restructuring of the successor companies has often failed. In addition, independent construction companies in the form of a GmbH were founded by employees .
