The VHV Allgemeine Versicherung AG is a German insurance company based in Hanover. As part of the VHV Group , VHV Versicherungen is one of the largest German providers of property / casualty insurance as a construction specialist insurer and car and liability insurer. Over 14,000 brokers sell the insurance.
history
VHV Versicherung has its origins in the liability insurance company founded in 1919 by the Hanover building trade and professional association. They founded building contractors as a self-help organization. In April 1919 the Hanoverian architect Friedrich Schermer opened the first constituent meeting. The parent company of the group, VHV Vereinigte Hannoversche Versicherung a. G. , a mutual association. Therefore 100 percent of the profits remain in the VHV Group. The VHV benefited from the introduction of an independent motor vehicle insurance, which is still the largest branch of insurance today. In the 1950s, around 24,000 businesses were insured with VHV, which made them the second largest liability insurer in Germany at the time.
In 1973 the subsidiary VAV Insurance was founded in Austria. In 2003 VHV merged with Hannoversche Leben - the VHV Group was created. In 2005 the composite business was merged into VHV Allgemeine Versicherung. Since 2008, VHV has also been accompanying construction customers to other European countries, for example to France, where RC Décennale insurance is offered for construction projects. The cooperation with the ITAS insurance group in Italy started in 2012 . Products for the Italian market were developed together. In 2015 the reinsurance company VHV Reasürans A. Ş was founded. in Istanbul .
Activity and products
The VHV offers u. a. offers various composite insurances in the areas of property, liability, accident and technical insurance and motor vehicle insurance. Renewable energy sources such as private and commercial solar systems are also insured. In addition, bond and credit insurance are sold, as well as legal expenses insurance and “cyber insurance”.
VHV is also the only German insurer to offer ten-year warranty insurance (so-called RC Décennale) under French law. VHV Allgemeine and VHV Reasürans also offer various reinsurance products, e.g. B. Facultative reinsurance covers are offered.
The group sells these products through various distribution channels:
