Between 1958 and 1961, Vaden produced records by various rockabilly musicians, which have since become classics of the genre in Europe.
history
Vaden Records was founded in 1958 by DJ Arlen Vaden in Trumann , Arkansas. The name of the label goes back to his last name. The label's first artist was Bobby Brown , whose first single Down At Big Mary's House / I Get The Blues (At Midnight) (Vaden 45-100) was the label's first release. Vaden's catalog began at number 100 and ended at 306 in 1961. There was no separate studio; mostly the pieces were recorded in the studios of small radio stations in Arkansas.
In February 1960, Vaden made a mistake in the release of Teddy Redell's single Judy / Can't You See . Catalog number 116 was used, although this had already been used about three months earlier on a single by Jimmy Haggett . After the song was played well regionally in the jukeboxes , Atco Records took over the distribution of the Redell single.
Although there were already a few EPs among the first releases (Vaden 100 to 116) , an extra series, the EP 200 series, was later set up, which included records by Onie Wheeler , Hank Locklin and Maddox Brothers and Rose . From 1960, the singles were given catalog numbers from 300 upwards.
Vaden Records was closed in 1961. The last release was Bill Duniven's single One Has My Name / Knocking on the Backside (Vaden 306). In the previous four years, mostly rock and roll and rockabilly songs by Bobby Brown, Teddy Redell, Joyce Green , Bobby Lee Trammell , Larry Donn and Johnny Moore were released. Owner Arlen Vaden also recorded some gospel records with Jackie Vaden.
