Vaipae'e is the most populous settlement on the island of Ua Huka , in the Marquesas, a French overseas territory in French Polynesia . Vaipae'e is the main town in the Ua-Huka Commune and is located in the south of the island, northwest of Ua Huka Airport . The place itself is located in the Vallee de Vaipae (Valley of Vai Take) and above the Baie Invisible (Baie Vaitaka).

Infrastructure

The village has a meeting hall, a post office, an infirmary, a kindergarten and a primary school.

Attractions

The Marquesas Archaeological Museum (Musée Communal de Uahuka) was founded in 1989 and presents traditional handicrafts and everyday objects: tikis , wood carvings, tapas , jewelry, paddles, puzzles, adzes , as well as the reconstruction of a former cave shelter.
