history

On the left slope of Val Piumogna, at the foot of Pizzo Lambro at 1350 meters, there used to be the village of Piumogna , which was a mountain pasture from Dalpe. Towards the end of the 19th century, however, a landslide formed on the unstable slope of Pizzo Lambro, which gradually buried the houses in Piumogna. Today only a few buildings remain of the village that are used as holiday homes.

The church of San Giovanni , which had been spared from the landslide, was in poor condition and was blown up in 1978 . A new chapel was built in its place further up the valley. In the 1960s they wanted to build a dam near Piumogna and flood the whole valley. However, the project was not pursued any further because the slopes of Pizzo Lambro are not stable enough.

The water of the Piumogna is used below Dalpe by a power station built by the municipality in 1998.
