course
The Piumogna rises at 2296 m above sea level. M. in the scree field Loita delle Giubine between the Pizzi di Morghirolo in the north and the Pizzo Canna in the south in the municipality of Faido. After a stream of around 240 meters to the north, it flows into the southern shore of Lake Morghirolo .
It leaves the mountain lake on the east bank and flows southeast through the Piano di Lei plateau, which is marked by rockfalls . You reach the Alpe di Croslina and pass the Capanna Campo Tencia , which is around 100 meters above the right bank . Here it takes in the drainage of the Piccolo di Croslina and Grande di Croslina glaciers from the right . After the confluence of the water from the Bocchetta di Staletto pass at the Böc di Comasnè scree field , it turns to the northeast. Shortly afterwards, the Piumogna falls down a cascade , crossing the municipal boundary to Dalpe and entering the Val Piumogna.
The Piumogna now overcomes a few meters in altitude while Prati Gera , the Alpe di Gera and the former Maiensäss Piumogna happens. Here it reaches the forest area and forms a small gorge with another cascade. It turns to the northeast and passes the village of Dalpe on the left bank, where the stream bed again flattens significantly. It flows around the Motto d'Orlascio on the north slope and turns to the east, where shortly thereafter a deep gorge follows. Here it falls in the Cascata Piumogna into the Leventina and again crosses the municipal boundary.
After a larger stilling basin and a further 30 meters of the river, the Piumogna finally flows out at 698 m above sea level. M. opposite the village of Faido from the right into the upper reaches of the Ticino.
