Valerio Sannicandro

Valerio Sannicandro (* 1971 in Bisceglie ) is an Italian conductor and composer of new music.

Life

Valerio Sannicandro studied composition with York Höller at the Cologne University of Music and at the Frankfurt University of Music with Hans Zender , as well as conducting with Péter Eötvös .

As a conductor he has u. a. Works by Varese, Carter, Grisey, Fedele and Donatoni are interpreted and the "Hoch-Zeiten" from Sonntag (Licht) premiered by Karlheinz Stockhausen . He received composition commissions a. a. the Darmstadt Summer Course , Bavarian State Opera , Donaueschinger Musiktage , IRCAM and the Venice Biennale .

Sannicandro was composer in residence at the ZKM Karlsruhe in 2008 and at the Cottbus State Theater from 2008–2009 .
