Valeriu Grițco

Valeriu Grițco (born February 22, 1959 in Mîndîc , Dondușeni Rajon , Soviet Union ) is a Moldovan lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Grițco studied law at the Moldovan State University in Chișinău from 1975 until he graduated in 1980 . He then worked as a lecturer in civil law and civil procedural law at this university before earning his doctorate in 1983 and moving to the Institute for Soviet Legislation of the Soviet Ministry of Justice. From 1987 to 1991 he was a district judge in Chișinău. From 1991 he worked as a lawyer and from 1995 to 2011 as legal advisor to numerous national and international banks. Since 2005 he has also been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova. In October 2012 he was elected as the representative of the Republic of Moldova as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights to succeed Mihai Poalelungi , who had been appointed President of the Moldovan Constitutional Court . Grițco began his term of office, which is expected to last until 2021, on December 3, 2012.
