Valette Island is a small island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located on the west side of the entrance to Mill Cove just 20 m off the south coast of Laurie Island . With a length of 440 m and a maximum width of 190 m, the surface area is a good five hectares .

The island was mapped and named during the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902-1904) under the direction of the Scottish polar explorer William Speirs Bruce . Bruce named the island after the Argentine meteorologist Lucian Honorio Valette (1880-1957), who worked on Laurie Island in 1904.
