The Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF) is a music festival specializing in folk music in the Canadian city of Vancouver , held every year on the third weekend of July. The venue is Jericho Beach Park, a stretch of coast on English Bay .

The VFMF first took place in 1977. Some of the best-known artists who have performed here include Ani DiFranco , Utah Phillips , Geoff Berner , Adrian Sherwood , Veda Hille , Feist , K'naan and Suzie Ungerleider . Since the beginning of the 21st century, in addition to singer-songwriters and world music interpreters, hip-hop formations have also increasingly been part of the program.

The number of festival visitors fluctuates between 10,000 and 30,000, depending on the weather, the popularity of the performing musicians and competition from other events. The festival is organized by the Folk Music Festival Society and around 1000 volunteers. The sponsorship of large corporations is largely avoided; the funding is instead provided by state authorities, cultural foundations and smaller local companies.
