The Vancouver Maritime Museum is a maritime museum in the Canadian city of Vancouver . The museum is a member of the Canadian Museums Association (CMA), the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) and the Virtual Museum of Canada . It is located immediately west of False Creek in Vanier Park on the coast of English Bay and thus in the immediate vicinity of the Museum of Vancouver and the HR MacMillan Space Center . The museum also has a small museum harbor.

The heart of the exhibition is the St. Roch , a schooner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police . This ship was in 1940-42 under Captain Henry Larsen the first to complete the Northwest Passage in the west-east direction, from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Since 1958 the ship has been permanently in a dry dock. The museum building was built around this.

Another important exhibit is the Ben Franklin research submersible . With this mesoscaphe set up outside the museum, Jacques Piccard drifted with the Gulf Stream and explored it.

The museum organizes changing exhibitions on the history of seafaring and has a corresponding library and a large collection of ship models . In a workshop, visitors can watch the model makers at work.
