history

The Vansbrosimningen started with ten participants and has not yet been held as a competition. From 1956, the times were recorded with a group of participants from all over Sweden and the winners of the swimming were determined. The winners were Göran Åberg, (Örebro SS, time 42:34 minutes) and Elsa By (Falu SS 56:32 minutes). In 1964, for the first and so far only time, a participant set the absolute best time. Margareta Rylander won with a lead of twelve seconds over the fastest participant, her time was 40:28 minutes. In 1968, Erkki Hänninen from Finland won for the first time a foreigner.

  • from 1998 the Lilla Vansbrosimningen for children
  • from 2000 the Kortsimmet, distance 1,000 meters
