Vardis Vardinogiannis

Vardis Vardinogiannis ( Greek Βαρδής Βαρδινογιάννης ; * 1933 in Lappa , Rethymno ) is a Greek entrepreneur and manager .

Life

Vardis Vardinogiannis comes from an influential Greek shipowner family. He sits on the boards of Greek companies Motor Oil , which operates refineries and gas stations, and Vegas Oil and Gas , which produces petroleum in Egypt. In the summer of 1979 the Vardinogiannis family took over all the shares in the Panathinaikos Athens club, and ownership of the football club was transferred to the shipowner Vardis Vardinogiannis.

On November 20, 1990, Vardinogiannis escaped unharmed from an attack by the November 17 terrorist organization .

He is married to Marianna Vardinogiannis and has five children. His son Giannis Vardinogiannis works as a manager and was temporarily racing driver and president of the football club Panathinaikos Athens , until the majority of the shares in the club were sold after 30 years of family ownership following a capital increase.
