The Vega was built by Captain Ram on Bolmen in the 1880s. The ship was a self-made hull made of wood and iron frames and operated on the Swedish lake Unnen .

history

The Vega was sold in 1893 to a company in Unnaryd that was a partner of Halmstad – Bolmens Järnvägsaktiebolag , which operated the Åsen – Unnen railway to the south bank of the Unnen from the summer of 1893 . The shipping line made the connection to the north bank to Södra Unnaryd .

In 1897 the Vega burned down to the waterline and was replaced by the Freya (which was also called Kvick or Bravo ). The Vega was rebuilt and the Freya used again to transport timber across the lake.

The company transferred the ship to the shipowner Frans Andersson in Loshult in 1903 .

In 1918 the Vega was in Unnaryd in winter. The ship sank probably due to the prevailing ice pressure. Andersson had started to get involved in the timber trade, so the Vega was stranded.

The wreck was then acquired by the brothers Frans and Simon Björk, who converted the hull and installed a new steam boiler after the ship was lifted . After that, the ship was only used for hauling wood and was no longer used for regular passenger traffic.

In 1929 the Vega and the logging company were sold to David Lorentsson in Dyhult . The timber transports across the lake lasted until 1940. During the last transports there were repeated major problems with the ship until it sank again in 1941.

The Vega was then no longer used and canceled in 1943.
