NGC 6941 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Aquila the northern sky . It is estimated to be 284 million light years from the Milky Way and about 165,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 6945 .
The object was discovered by Truman Henry Safford on August 29, 1867 .
