NGC 6944 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Delphinus the northern sky . It is estimated to be 205 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter . Possibly it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair with PGC 65108 ( NGC 6944A ) .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on August 15, 1863 .
