NGC 6945 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 176 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter .

The object was discovered by Albert Marth on July 12, 1864 .
