Veliefendi Hipodrom

The Veliefendi Hipodromu is the largest and oldest horse racing track in Turkey. The racetrack is located in Bakırköy on the European side of Istanbul near the Marmara Sea . The racecourse was laid out by German specialists in 1912/13 at the instigation of Enver Pasha . The racetrack was named after the Sheikhul Islam Veli Efendi.

The grandstands of the racecourse hold 7,600 spectators. They were rebuilt between 1967 and 1969. The route length is 2400 meters.
