Velika Osječenica

The Velika Osječenica ( 1795  m ) is the highest point of the Osječenica planina mountain range in the north-west of Bosnia and Herzegovina . The mountain range, part of the Dinaric Mountains , stretches between the Polje of Bosanski Petrovac and the Una and Unac rivers . The summit forms an almost one kilometer long plateau with rocky reefs.

The flora is said to be rich, especially edelweiss have been described.

tourism

The mountain was explored in 1891 by the botanist Franjo Fiala . The first tourist ascent is said to have taken place in 1965. The mountain can be reached from Bosanski Petrovac via Kolunić on a marked path, from the Oštrelj pass on the main road from Bosanski Pertovac to Drvar and from Martin Brod on the Una. The view is said to be rewarding.
