Ceann Trá
Ceann Trá ( Anglicized Ventry ) is a small town with 413 inhabitants (2006) six kilometers west of Daingean Uí Chúis on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry in Ireland . It is located on Ventry Harbor and is famous for its sandy beach in the southwest. The place still has a pier far outside , but is not a port.
For many Irish people, the square is primarily mythological . This is where the Battle of Ventry took place, where Fionn mac Cumhaill and Donn , the "King of the World", faced each other.
In the vicinity of Ceann Trá are some menhirs (the Wedge Tomb , The Giants Table also Caherard, Labbanirweeny or the Munsterman's Bed), the Clochans of Fahan, the ruins of Rahinnane Castle and one of the most famous duns in Ireland on the cliff, Dunbeg Fort ( the little dun). In nearby Kilvicadownig there are two cross slabs and one of the places that are considered the grave of the legendary figure Donn, the king of the world. There is an ogham stone in the nearby Maumanorig .
