Venus (Florida)

Venus is a civil parish in southeast Highlands County in the US state of Florida . It is on County Road 731, which branches off US Highway 27 .

The main industries in Venus include growing citrus fruits and raising livestock. There is also a volunteer fire brigade in the community . The community also boasts Camp Mars, one of the few gay and lesbian campsites in the United States. With the availability of 4,000 square meters of trailer space in the area, Venus has recently attracted a growing number of residents.

Personalities

Venus is the hometown of the author and social designer Jacque Fresco , the founder of The Venus Project , whose name was derived from this very place. The project is dedicated to the transformation of the world from a monetary economy to a resource-based economy.
