The Venus of Mas d'Azil

The Venus of Mas d'Azil is a Venus figurine from the younger Paleolithic . It is estimated to be 16,000 to 15,000 years old and assigned to the Magdalenian . The figure was carved from the tooth of a horse and is 5.1 cm long, 1.7 cm wide and 1.3 cm thick. Édouard Piette discovered her in 1888 in the cave of Mas d'Azil in southwest France.
