Nikolaus Schlam (born November 16, 1885 in Salzburg ; † February 3, 1946 there ) was an Austrian politician ( DNSAP ) and smelter. From 1927 to 1932 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

education and profession

Schlam attended a local secondary school after primary school in Salzburg and joined the kk saltworks administration in Bad Ischl in Upper Austria in 1900, where he was employed as a chancellery until 1904. He then worked from 1904 to 1908 as a smelting worker and between 1908 and 1914 he was a manipulation pupil or smelter at the kk saltworks administration in Bad Ischl. From 1914 he worked as an accounting clerk at the kk Salinenverwaltung in Hallein , before fighting in the First World War from 1915 to 1918 .

After returning from the war, Schlam worked again in the salt works administration from 1918 to 1919, but this time in Ebensee . As a result, he was appointed sub-civil servant in 1919, after which he was employed from 1919 to 1938 as a foreman or senior foreman and technical senior secretary at the saltworks administration in Hallein. After the National Socialists came to power, he was forced to retire in 1938, but reactivated again after the end of World War II in 1945. Due to his health, he retired again in 1945.

Politics and functions

Schlam founded the Hallein branch of the German National Socialist Workers 'Party (DNSAP) in 1920 and acted as state party chairman of the German National Socialist Workers' Party in Salzburg from 1925 to 1931. From May 4, 1927 to May 18, 1932, he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and from 1927 to 1932 he held the internal party function of deputy chairman of the DNSAP state parliament club . He was also a member of the municipal council from 1922 to 1931 and a member of the Hallein Municipal Council from 1936 to 1938. In addition, Schlam worked from 1928 to 1930 as chairman of the German workers 'union in Salzburg, was chairman of the German workers' union for Austria in 1930 and from 1921 to 1931 Chamber of Labor Councilor. In 1935 he was regional organization manager of the Heimwehr in Tennengau and from 1928 to 1934 chairman of the Salzburg health insurance fund.
