Association of Austrian Waste Management Companies

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of Austrian Waste Management Companies (VOEB) is an independent lobby group for commercial waste management companies in Austria.

history

The reason for the establishment in 1982 was the lack of an interest organization and a representation based on social partnerships that was specifically geared to the concerns of waste management . The association has its seat in Vienna and extends its activities to Austria . It represents over 220 members. More than 80% of the commercial waste management companies in Austria are organized in the VOEB. The association, which is geared towards voluntary membership, is thus the strongest economic unit in the industry. In order to be able to specifically address regional aspects, there is a state representative on the board of directors for each federal state. The board of directors under President KR Hans Roth consists of a further twelve members, who are composed of the different federal states and according to the membership structure.

Members

The private Austrian waste disposal industry generates around 4 billion euros and is an important economic factor with enormous employment and investment impulses. The private Austrian waste management companies employ over 25,000 people. Private waste management collects, treats, recycles and disposes of three quarters of all waste. The members of the association are divided into ordinary and supporting members. Ordinary members are those who take part in the association's work. Supporting members are those who do not meet the requirements for full members, but still affirm and support the goals of the association. Furthermore, the VOEB works closely with other interest groups (IV, BDE , ÖWAV, FEAD etc.), research institutes and universities , so-called cooperative members.
