The Association of the Prussian Districts , as a municipal umbrella organization, was a voluntary association of the districts in Prussia that existed from 1916 to 1933 . It was founded on September 8, 1916 in the building of the Prussian Parliament in Berlin and began its work in Berlin in January 1917. One month after it was founded, over 70% of all Prussian circles were members. At the suggestion of the association, the Association of German Districts was founded in November 1923 (since 1924 the German District Association ), whose state association it became and which was led in personal union by the board of the Association of Prussian Districts .

After Reichsexekution against Prussia ( Prussia shock ) on 20 July 1932, the work of the association was nearly impossible, he was finally together with the German County Association by the Law on the German municipality day of 15 December 1933 (the RGBl 1, pp. 1065ff. ) dissolved in the course of the synchronization .

Since the state of Prussia was dissolved after the Second World War , the Association of Prussian Districts was not re-established; instead, separate associations were founded in the then new federal states. Those in the western zones re- established the German District Association in 1947 .
