The Association for Applied Hygiene (VAH) is an association that publishes lists of tested disinfectants for medical and non-medical facilities. The VAH list (corresponds to the old DGHM list) is the directory of the disinfectants and processes tested by the VAH. Users will find all products certified by the VAH with the relevant instructions for use, application notes and explanations of the test methodology. The VAH does not issue any official recommendations on guidelines for the disinfection of certain pathogens. In Germany, this is the responsibility of the Robert Koch Institute .

The strict requirements for certification and inclusion in the VAH list require the effectiveness of agents and procedures for routine hand, skin, surface, instrument and laundry disinfection for the spectrum of effects bactericidal , levurocidal , tuberculocidal , mycobactericidal , fungicidal and virucidal .

The Association for Applied Hygiene has its office at the University Hospital Bonn . The first chairman is Lutz Vossebein, the second chairman is Caroline Herr.

The VAH publishes a monthly trade journal “Hygiene and Medicine”.

The VAH list has also been available online free of charge since 2018.
