Band of curvature of the compound curve

A compound curve is a curve with the design elements follow straight - Spiral - arc - Spiral - Straight. It is in the line routing of roads and railway lines used. The parameter of the clothoid should be larger, the smaller the following curve radius is. The situation is similar with the straight line. In this way a long and gradual transition is achieved.

With the help of the compound curve, a uniform increase or decrease in the curvature is achieved, thus ensuring safe cornering. The compound curve can be said to be symmetrical if the two clothoid parameters are identical. If, on the other hand, different parameters are used, it is an asymmetrical compound curve.
