Verda - Green Graubünden (short form: Verda ; formerly La Verda and Verda - Green Graubünden ) is a political party in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . She has been a member of the Swiss Green Party since 2010 .

History and mandates

Green movements have existed in Graubünden since the 1970s. In the eighties, the Grisons Greens gained influence through the successful fight against new hydropower plants. In 1991 they ran for the first time under the name La Verda in the National Council elections . In the Grand Council was La Verda never represented. In the Green Party of Switzerland (GPS) of the Grisons had observer status. In March 2003, La Verda disbanded.

On June 26, 2007, Verda - Green Graubünden was re-established in Thusis . Its first president and founder was Martin Tucek. The first - and so far only - local party is Verda - Grüne Davos , which, under the leadership of Rolf Marugg, has been primarily dedicated to the fight against the WEF since 2001. Rolf Marugg was represented in the municipal parliament in Davos from 2005 to 2017. In the municipal council elections in Chur, Verda joined the Free List Chur in 2009 and has held a seat with Anita Mazzetta since 2009. In 2018 she was President of the City Council and therefore the “highest Churian woman”.

In 2007, 2011 and 2019 Verda ran for the National Council elections. In 2010 Verda became a member of Green Switzerland. Angelo Andina was President of Verda from 2012 to 2016. Since 2016 Verda has been led by the board of directors consisting of Anita Mazzetta, Kaspar Schuler and Rolf Marugg. From January to April 2019, Nicolas Zogg was a board member and president, and secretary since May 2019. On January 18, 2019, the Young Green Grisons were founded in Chur .

Political orientation

The Verda - Green Grisons belong to the left-green camp and are particularly committed to environmental protection, public transport, equality between women and men, renewable energies and sustainable agriculture.

In 2019, Verda formulated these key concerns:

  • Agriculture and nutrition: regional, seasonal, organic and fair production and consumption
  • Climate: Living and traveling without fossils
  • Energy: Power transition thanks to an efficient mix of sun and water
  • Water: Healthy and lively bodies of water are vital
  • Biodiversity: diversity instead of simplicity
  • Society: more social justice through equality and more participation
  • Tourism: More quality and individuality instead of commonplace goods and quantity
