Medal of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate
The Medal of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate is an award from the State of Rhineland-Palatinate , which was founded on February 13, 1996 by Prime Minister Kurt Beck . The award of the Medal of Merit takes place as a token of recognition and appreciation of special honorary services to society and fellow human beings, especially in the areas of social, cultural, sporting life as well as environmental and nature protection.
Appearance and wearing style
The gold-plated medal is awarded by the Prime Minister and shows the embossed and colored enamelled coat of arms of Rhineland-Palatinate on its obverse . This is enclosed by a vine leaf border. The reverse , however, is smooth and shows the five-line inscription FOR BESONDERE / VOLUNTEER / MERIT / TO THE SOCIETY / AND THE MITMENSCHEN , which is also surrounded by a border of vine leaves. The medal is worn on the upper left side of the chest on a black, red and gold ribbon. A black, red and gold ribbon bar can be worn instead of the medal of merit.
