Medal of Merit for Donating Blood
The Medal of Merit for Blood Donation was founded on October 22, 1979 by Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and is given as recognition and reward to people who have voluntarily donated blood. The Grand Duchess acts as patron of the Luxembourg Red Cross and as such carries out the award.
Classes
The award consists of three stages.
- I. level - gold
- II stage - silver
- III. Level - bronze
After 20 blood donations, volunteer donors can start with the III. Level, after 40 blood donations with the second level and after 80 blood donations with the first level.
Appearance
The medal consists of an equal-armed, red-enameled and crowned cross. On the front, the Grand Duchess's coat of arms is depicted in a diamond-shaped women's shield. The reverse shows the portrait of the Grand Duchess in the diamond shape of the lady's shield.
Carrying method
The medal is worn on a white ribbon with a vertical red stripe, bordered in the national colors red, white and blue on the left side of the chest.
