Medal of Merit for Supporting Cholera Sufferers

The medal of merit for the support of cholera sufferers (or also: Cholera medal ) was in 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI. donated and awarded as thanks for special assistance in combating the cholera epidemic in Rome .

Order decoration

The order decoration was a silver medal with the image of Pope Gregory XVI. on the front side. On the back there is the inscription Solatori Aegrotorum anno MDCCCXXXVII . The recipient's name was engraved on the award.

Ribbon

The ribbon was black with white stripes around the edges.
