Honored worker in agriculture and forestry in the German Democratic Republic

The honorary title of Honored Worker in Agriculture and Forestry of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. It was donated on April 28, 1977 and could be awarded to workers and employees for:

  • excellent performance in solving economic tasks in agriculture and forestry,
  • special merits and initiatives in socialist competition ,
  • socialist intensification and application of the scientific and technical service and
  • many years of exemplary commitment.

The number of maximum awards was limited to 100 honorary titles per year, but this number had to be shared with the title of Honored Cooperative Farmer of the German Democratic Republic .

Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows a tractor ( Kirowez K-700 ) in the middle of its obverse in front of a forest, surrounded by the inscription: DESERVED WORKER IN AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY . The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms . The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 24 × 14 mm green covered clasp with a 3.5 mm wide black, red and gold border. In the middle of the ribbon a miniature of the national coat of arms, also gold-plated, has been placed.
