The Association for German Lace is a German dog breeding association that was founded in 1899 and is based in Cologne . He is a member of the Association for German Dogs . He is responsible for the breed standard of the German Spitz breed , divided into the types Wolfsspitz (Keeshond), Großspitz , Mittelspitz , Kleinspitz , Zwergspitz and the Japanese Spitz and Volpino Italiano breeds .

The association regards the German lace as a cultural heritage and wants to preserve and promote it. For the German lace he is responsible for the breeding standard worldwide and has the right to make changes. The current standard is based on the 1997 version, which is deposited with the FCI as No. 97.
