List of domestic dogs |
The Kleinspitz belongs to the German Spitz breed . This is a German dog breed recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 5, Section 4, Standard No. 97 )
Origin and history
The Kleinspitz was initially mainly bred in the Mannheim area, which is why it was also known as the Mannheimer Spitz. It was often referred to as the Zwergspitz , which resulted in confusion by name with today's Zwergspitz, which is a separate variety of the breed. This separation between small and dwarf Spitz, as it exists today, did not exist in earlier times - all points with a maximum shoulder height of 29 cm were uniformly small points.
description
The Kleinspitz is a happy, alert and weatherproof dog , a good companion dog and an excellent circus dog with long, soft and loose hair in the colors white, black, brown, orange, other colors. It is 26 ± 3 cm tall and the weight should match the size.
The term other colors includes all shades such as cream, cream-sable, orange-sable, black-and-tan and piebald. Piebalds must have a basic white color. The black, brown, gray or orange patches of color must be distributed over the whole body.
Essence
The social, peaceful nature of the Kleinspitz makes him an unproblematic family dog . He has excellent hearing, defends territory and property, is attentive, loyal to his family, but suspicious of everything foreign. A well-socialized Kleinspitz usually proves to be patient with children.
