Association for controlled alternative forms of animal husbandry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association for Controlled Alternative Animal Husbandry eV (KAT) was founded in 1995 and is based in Bonn . Members of the association are companies as well as natural or legal persons who manufacture, market, advertise or sell products from the poultry sector. The aim of the association is "a complete control and monitoring of eggs from free-range and free-range farming and from organic production ". According to its own understanding, the association is "the most important control body for the traceability and traceability of eggs from alternative hen husbandry systems in Germany and neighboring EU countries".

The verification of the identification of chicken eggs is organized by KAT. In addition to the EC marketing standards for eggs, the basis of the KAT control system are all other guidelines and ordinances laid down by the EU, as well as the provisions of the German Animal Welfare and Farming Ordinance . The controls in the respective stages (feed factories, laying farms, egg packing stations) are carried out exclusively in coordination with certification bodies accredited according to DIN EN ISO 17065.
