Association of Turkish workers in Cologne and the surrounding area

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of Turkish Workers in Cologne and the surrounding area was the first Turkish workers' organization in Germany . It was established in 1962, a few months after the signing of the recruitment agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and Turkey . It was a model for the founding of numerous other workers' associations by Turkish migrant workers in Germany.

In 1963 the organization received legal status as a registered association . However, the association's statutes did not expressly include the assumption of trade union functions as a task.
