The Association of German Sheep Breeding Associations (VDL) is an association based in Berlin .

The umbrella association was founded in 1934 and has the working groups for sheep shearing, sheep wool, landscape conservation and predators. The VDL is a member of the working group of German animal breeders .

tasks

Since it was founded, the VDL has had the goal of ensuring balanced framework conditions for competitive sheep farming. Additional areas of responsibility are:

  • Advising the European and national authorities, the central agricultural organizations in questions of sheep breeding and keeping and the utilization of their products and services.
  • Elaboration and implementation of uniform regulations for the stud bookkeeping, the recognition and exhibition system, the performance tests and the training system
  • Promotion of performance areas in the sheep industry such as lamb, wool and dairy products and improvement of animal health
  • Participation and support in research projects
  • Implementation of internal training events on current topics in German sheep farming and the entire sheep industry
  • Representation of interests of German stock breeding at home and abroad.
